Our Institution
The “Alessandro Scarlatti” Conservatoire in Palermo aims to achieve and foster excellence in every area of teaching
Main goals are:
- to provide high international standards and coursecontents in conformity with the Bologna requirements;
- to give students the key qualifications and experience to confront the labour market defined by growing globalization and internationalization;
- to promote the development of international skills (knowledge of European and international connections, understanding of other cultures, expertise in and knowledge of foreign languages and the expansion of eachindividual’s horizons).
The overall strategy is to encourage changes in course structure that would allow increased student and staff mobility both incoming and outgoing and through this to help developing a better European conscience. The internal departments will alsobe invited to build teaching collaborations, both nationally andinternationally and to pursue excellence in teaching and learning.In line with these objectives the Conservatory is an activemember of the AEC, Association Européenne desConservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen.
The Alessandro Scarlatti Conservatoire holds the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) with certification recognized by the European Commission; thanks to this recognition the Institute has acquired the maximum entitlement to take part in all of the activities covered by the Erasmus+ programme 20142020.
The recognition of studies and diplomas is a prerequisite for the creation of an open European area for education andtraining, where students and teachers are able to move without barriers.
That is why the ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) becomes an indispensable tool for the portability and academic recognition of studies abroad through the Erasmus mobility. See our Conservatoire’s ECTS Student Guide.
The European Commission has awarded the Palermo Conservatoire the Diploma Supplement Certification Label. ThisImportant recognition guarantees first and second level titles issued by our Conservatoire to be recognized withoutfurther checks within the European Community and in other countries outside Europe.
The Erasmus Policy Statement (EPS) is an integral part of the institutional strategy of the Vincenzo BelliniConservatoire in the framework of the Erasmus programme, and one of the essential documents for obtaining theErasmus University Charter (EUC). The EUC is issued by the European Commission which grants the university the rightto participate in the Erasmus programme. It contains the basic principles of all activities related to the programme
